Maryline Yobouet is an artist who is trying to make sense of the world one pen mark at a time. Originally born in Brussels, Belgium, but from the Ivory Coast, Maryline spent 16 years in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. She quickly learned that pen and ink is all that is required for conveying her inner most creative thoughts.
At first, She was looking for a way to stay awake in college with as many as two part-time jobs and 26 course Credits (8 classes a semester #NeverAgain). Drawing was an obvious choice for her, because it not only helped her stay awake during those college days, but it helped her remember important concepts by visualizing the subject matter.
Her older brother used to tell her: “find something you like, and stick with it”. In the late 80s, that translated to three things: 1) Super Mario, 2) Legos, and 3) Video Games. Once the Television stopped working from overextensive use, drawing seemed to do just that. It seemed she had found something she loves doing and is sticking to it.
Perplex Geometrix is a journey of self discovery, the love of human anatomy and the physiological explorations of human mechanics.
Through her love of “all things nerdy, video games, military history text books, or any Tom Clancy novel”; drawings can reflect just how complex the human body is–a complex yet gentle entity capable of mending hearts, DNA replication, and most of all: love and companion.
Pen and ink can document such wonderful new discoveries, so stay tuned as she continues to share them with the world.
Sharing can be beautiful thing.
